The Threepenny Opera caused an immediate sensation when it opened in Berlin in 1928, changing the shape of musical theatre forever. It is now one of the best-loved musicals of all time.

Brecht’s sardonic tale of beggars, thieves and prostitutes is a fierce social and political critique, which is vividly complemented by Weill’s amazing score, an exhilarating fusion of American Jazz and German Cabaret.
