An Ideal Husband is directed by Marc Atkinson Borrull whose recent credits include Three Sisters (Gaiety Theatre) and A Misanthrope (Smock Alley Theatre).

Marc Atkinson Borrull is a theatre director from Ireland and Catalonia whose critically acclaimed work has been seen in New York, Dublin, and internationally. With Sugarglass, he creates radically contemporary adaptations of classic plays featuring large ensembles of Ireland’s most compelling stage artists. Productions include Three Sisters in a new version by Ciara Elizabeth Smyth (Gaiety Theatre, Dublin Theatre Festival) and A Misanthrope adapted by Matthew Minnicino (Smock Alley Theatre). Marc’s independent directing includes The Beacon by Nancy Harris (Off-Broadway, starring Kate Mulgrew); Melis Aker’s film Baba in Graceland; the first major revival of Enda Walsh’s Bedbound (Landmark Productions & Galway International Arts Festival, Olympia Theatre); Beginning by David Eldridge and Constellations by Nick Payne (Gate Theatre); Tempesta by Deirdre Kinahan (Cork Midsummer Festival); Little Gem by Elaine Murphy (Irish Rep NYC, Outer Critics’ Circle Award); and Hamlet (Associate Director, St. Ann’s Warehouse). Other credits include It’s Cool in the Shade by Kwaku Fortune (Dublin Theatre Festival); Outlying Islands by David Greig (Connelly Theater, NYC); Last Night in Inwood by Alix Sobler (Signature Theater, NYC); All Hell Lay Beneath (Irish Times “Cultural Highlight of the Year”); and Ethica, co presented in Sofia, Bulgaria, and at the residence of the Irish President to mark International Human Rights Day. |
