Once you purchase tickets, gift certificates or merchandise, or sign up for our newsletter, your personal data is held on the Gate Theatre’s booking system, Spektrix. This information is essential for fulfilling your requested order, and is also important for auditing purposes. The full use of this data is outlined in detail later in this statement.
Your personal data on The Gate Theatre booking system includes your contact details, transaction history, and your contact preferences.
You may purchase tickets or merchandise in person at our box office without providing your contact details. However, please be aware that you do this at your own risk, as we will not be able to contact you in the instance of a performance cancellation or other unforeseen event.
While we do not systematically erase your information, the Gate respects and facilitates your right to view, alter, and erase your personal data. You may view and alter your contact information and marketing preferences in your online booking account at www.gatetheatre.ie/my-account at any time, or you can do so by contacting our box office team. If you wish to have your personal data removed from our booking system, please contact us at boxoffice@gate-theatre.ie or +353 1 874 4045. This will be actioned within 24 hours, within box office opening hours.

In order for us to fulfil this contract, your data is held on the Gate Theatre’s booking system, Spektrix. For example, we may need to contact you to inform you of changes or cancellations of a show you’ve booked, or if there are problems with a payment.

In some cases, where the above bases are not appropriate, we will ask for your specific consent before using your data. Marketing communications
From time to time we may send you information relating to the Gate and its events. When you book, you will be given the opportunity to let us know whether you would like to receive this information. Your preference is recorded and respected.

In order to achieve this, we may use personal data relating to past interactions, such as what events you have booked in the past. This data educates us about our audience and your preferences, which in turn can inform the running of the theatre. How We Protect Your Data
Access to your information
The only situation in which we will disclose your data to a third party is to our own service providers who are most closely involved in the provision of box office and communications services. Our service providers are contractually required to adhere strictly to our instructions and data protection laws. Beyond this, your data will not be forwarded on to third parties without your consent or unless lawful purposes require us to do so.
In order to protect your data, the Gate Theatre’s booking system and data processor, Spektrix, uses stringent security measures that are compliant with Recital 39 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Access to your data is limited to only the Gate team members for whom it is absolutely necessary in the functioning of their responsibilities.
Your payment information
Credit Card details are used only to process your requested order. Requested orders are processed securely through Spektrix’s Payment Processer, in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
Spektrix facilitates a Card Holder Wallet feature that allows you to optionally store card details securely to facilitate speedier future transactions. This is carried out in compliance with PCI-DSS and in a way where none of our staff members are able to see your full card number. Your security code is never stored. This feature is only activated at your specific request, and can be deactivated at any time through your online booking account at www.gatetheatre.ie/my-account or through box office (boxoffice@gate-theatre.ie or +353 1 874 4045).
At no point are your card details stored on Gate Theatre servers.
