ABOUT:
Grianstad is an immersive audio experience timed to the sun setting on the winter solstice. Designed as a collective experience for listeners all around the country and beyond, audiences are encouraged to use headphones to journey outdoors towards the sunset, and to take in the light.
Grianstad – the Irish word for ‘sun stop’ or solstice – invites audiences to take a moment to reflect, to gather with friends or experience solo, and mark the closing of the shortest day of the year as the light fades.
Originally presented in 2022, this very special adaptation of Grianstad 2025 is dedicated to the incredible Manchán Magan. Manchán inspired so many people around the world to engage more deeply with land and language, the natural world, and the interconnectedness and ancestry that generates and underpins us all. Like so many artists, Manchán was a direct influence in so much of our recent work, and his legacy is truly astonishing.
TICKETS:
Grianstad is free but ticketed, with a suggested donation of €10 to Hometree – a tree planting charity that Manchán was a trustee of. Once registered, audiences will receive an email on 21 December with a linkto the piece and instructions.
