The Gate Theatre presents the WORLD PREMIERE of
About:Adapted from Emma Donoghue’s own bestselling novel, THE PULL OF THE STARS is set in a Dublin hospital in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic. It follows three transformative days in the life of Julia Power, a young midwife, assigned to a quarantined women’s ward. An eclectic group of pregnant women, those most affected by the deadly flu, spin the dial of destiny as life and death collide and an unlikely love flourishes. This beautiful new play asks us to consider the importance of sisterhood, destiny, connection, the power of chance, and the care we offer to women and their bodies. The all-female cast will be led by Louise Lowe who returns to the Gate Theatre after her acclaimed, award-winning production of The Steward of Christendom. |
