As part of our ongoing Open Gate initiative, we were proud to host an exclusive livestream of Poor, specifically for secondary school students across the country. The response to this initiative exceeded our highest expectations. We are very proud to announce we reached 29 counties, 369 schools and 22,146 students.
From Donegal to Kerry, this event transformed hundreds of classrooms into a single, unified audience.
Immediately following the performance, the livestream transitioned into an insightful panel discussion.
We were honoured to host a post show Q&A for the event, featuring Katriona O’Sullivan, author of Poor, Róisín McBrinn, Artistic Director of the Gate Theatre and Director of Poor, Sonya Kelly, Acclaimed playwright who wrote this adaption of Poor for stage.
This ambitious project was made possible through the generous and kind support of basis.point. Their commitment was instrumental in helping us reach over 22,000 students, many of whom were experiencing a Gate Theatre production for the very first time.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the teachers and students who made this event possible. As part of the Gate Theatre’s dedication to an Open Gate, there was no charge for the live stream.
